The British Columbia (BC) Fair PharmaCare Program provides prescription drug coverage for all BC residents whose drug costs are high in relation to their income. Fair PharmaCare recipients are eligible for assistance with eligible drug costs once their drug expenses reach an annual deductible based on their family income. In addition, the PharmaCare Specialty Authority Program pays for certain drugs that are not regular benefits of the Fair PharmaCare Program, provided a patient meets certain eligibility criteria.

What happens if:

Your request is approved by Fair Pharmacare: GSC will pay the eligible cost of your drug (according to your benefit plan provisions)until your PharmaCare deductible is met. PharmaCare will cover all or a portion of the cost of your prescription drug after your deductible has been met. GSC will pay the remaining eligible balance. If the drug also requires prior authorization through GSC, GSC will automatically approve the drug under our prior authorization program.

Your BC Special Authority Drug request is declined? If your request is declined by Fair PharmaCare, GSC coverage will depend on the drugcoverage provisions within your benefit plan, and whether or not the drug requires GSCprior authorization.
